“One must still have chaos in oneself to be able to give birth to a dancing star.”
I believe that our life experiences enhance our ability to function in a healthy way, but if dissonance exists within these life experiences it can lead to unhealthy functioning. It is through the therapeutic process that an individual can learn to heal and accept all their life experiences to live a fulfilling and balanced life. There are many ways this can be achieved, which is why I approach therapy in a holistic manner.
I am an independently licensed professional clinical counselor who has worked with children, adolescents, and adults. I have worked in corrections, community mental health, schools, and in crisis/hospital settings. I am experienced in working with substance abuse (including medication-assisted treatment), anxiety, trauma, impulse control, and mood disorders.
I have specialized skills in motivational interviewing, anger management, grief, mindfulness, play/art therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I also have experience working with families and with facilitating groups. My areas of interest include: anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, LGBTQ, adjustment and behavioral issues.
Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana State University – 2011.
